Eels in our reef aquariums

Many times we have been asked about keeping eels in a reef aquarium. As we have never actually done this, our answer is simply based on the standards of keeping a healthy reef tank. As eels do tend to be dirty, demand lots of food, I feel with the proper filtration and care they will do fine in a reef aquarium. Although, one thing  you have to watch out far is what fish and invertebrates you choose to be in your reef. I have seen eels eat smaller fish and shrimp in an aquarium. Keeping away from small fish along with proper filtration and maintenance to maintain optimal water parameters for your corals and reef fish sounds like the combo to keeping eels in our reef aquariums. If any viewers have actual experience or is currently a owner of a reef housing an eel, feel from to comment below on your experience.

Perfect coral for the new reef aquarium hobbyist

Zoanthids and Palythoas are generally known for their wide variety of colors and ease of care. Making these corals a great beginner hobbyist coral, as well as a expert level collector. They are very forgiving when it comes to water quality. As they do not have skeleton structures, they do not demand complete stability of calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, and salinity levels in your aquarium. Maintaining the basics in your water quality is enough for these corals to thrive. New reef aquarium hobbyist give these corals a shot!
