The new Koralia Gen 3 circulation pump review

We have been needing some better flow for our 90 gallon reef since the beginning of the setup. A Koralia evo 750 and 1900 pump was not enough for proper circulation. We had a couple dead spots and some water surface film on one side of the tank so we decided to replace the Koralia evo 750 for the all new Koralia Gen 3 2450gph circulation pump. Upon opening the the box, my first impression was wow this thing is small for a 2450gph pump, it was actually smaller than the Koralia evo 750 that was in the tank. The new magnet mounts let you set the pump in literally any direction possible. Lastly, I love how the the grill is a flexible rubber material as compared to the old model Koralia that were a hard plastic and prone to cracking.
Now off to the installation. Installation was quick and easy, and the pump immediately started to circulate the entire tank. Found it impressive how quiet the pump was while running. Almost completely silent in a dead silent room . Corals started to look happier with the added flow and my powder blue tang loves fighting the current.

After about an hour or two of the pump running, we ran into a issue. The pumps circulation would slow down almost to a stop. Unplugged the pump and plugged it back in , and its back in action. An hour goes by and the same issue occurs. We contact Hydor the next morning and they agree that this pump is defective and agree to send out a replacement. Im sure this is a rare defective pump , as ive used Koralia pumps for years and these pumps are incredibly reliable. Now waiting on the replacement. Will get back and update this review when it arrives.
